Caring for natural teeth

Many factors go into maintaining good oral hygiene and ensuring your smile is full and bright.

Dentists recommend brushing at least twice daily, for a minimum of 2 minutes. Flossing is also a key part of oral hygiene, as brushing cannot always get between the teeth, leaving a lot of surface area between teeth untouched, and susceptible to plaque buildup.

Maintaining a good diet is important, limiting sugar intake which works with plaque to cause cavities and decay in your teeth and gums.

  • Avoid sticky foods such as granola bars, raisins, fruit rollups, etc.
  • Fruit juice can be just as bad for your teeth as soda, so read the nutrition label and make smart choices.
  • Eating and drinking often causes your tooth enamel to temporarily soften. It is suggested to avoid brushing your teeth within 30 minutes after eating to avoid unnecessary damage to your enamel. Swish water around in your mouth following eating or drinking a sugary beverage to get excess sugar off your teeth.
